Link in Senior Deaths Exposed

• Common diseases affecting elderly tied to ingredient in GMO weed killer.

In the February 15 AMERICAN FREE PRESS, glyphosate, an herbicide used in the Monsanto’s popular product Roundup, was noted as a possible factor contributing to the rise of autism in children. As we know, autism has rapidly spiked from one in 10,000 in 1970 to what may be one in two children born by 2025 with no plausible explanation by the medical establishment.

Are other diseases seeing a similar increase, especially those among mature populations?

Research scientists Dr. Anthony Samsel and Dr. Stephanie Seneff published a stunning paper, “Glyphosate, pathways to modern diseases II: Celiac sprue and gluten intolerance,” in the magazine Interdisciplinary Toxicology, which had worldwide impact.

Many diseases correlate to use of glyphosate and Dr. Nancy L. Swanson and Jon Abrahamson found that deaths from Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and senile dementia bear similarity to the rise of glyphosate.

Dr. Swanson wrote:

The elderly are susceptible to glyphosates because they may already have a great body burden of chemical exposure over their lifetime and because some of their body processes are shutting down and hormonal disruptions can have a much greater effect on them. . . .

According to the University of Washington’s Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, Alzheimer’s disease went from number 32 in 1990 to number nine in 2010 in the ranking of leading causes of death in the United States. Senile dementia and its care costs have also skyrocketed in the last two decades. . . .

Prevalence and incidence data were sparse, but data on death rates were available. Data for the death rates for Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and senile dementia were plotted against glyphosate applications to U.S. corn and soy crops. Again, the correlations are quite strong. Deaths due to Alzheimer’s have been rising since 1980, but there is a sharp spike in 1999. . . .

Correlation does not necessarily imply causation and there are now a host of chemicals in our food and our environment. The huge increase in the amount of glyphosate applied to [genetically engineered, or GMO] food and feed crops has significantly increased our exposure to endocrine- disrupting chemicals. In a previous article, correlations were shown between glyphosate use, GMO crop increase and thyroid cancer, liver cancer, obesity, high blood pressure, acute kidney injury, incidence and prevalence of diabetes and end stage renal disease. All of these diseases and disorders were carefully chosen based upon the fact that: 1.) Glyphosate is a known endocrine disruptor, 2.) Endocrine disruptors can cause organ and neurological damage, 3.) RoundUp and GMOs have shown liver and kidney damage and abnormal behavior in rat studies, 4.) Use of glyphosate on herbicide-resistant crops has skyrocketed since 1995 and 5.) Incidence, prevalence and deaths due to these diseases have also skyrocketed since 1995.

While American politicians and health authorities seem beholden to corporate chemical producers, the Netherlands voted to ban the use of glyphosate for private use.

The full assault of glyphosate cannot be understated because it exists in virtually every crop, and testing reveals it is prevalent in air and rain water. A study from the U.S. Geological Survey found that glyphosate was the most prevalent herbicide detected: 86% in air and 77% in rain in the Mississippi Gulf region.

Glyphosate was even found in feeding tubes for infants. Of 20 samples tested, six contained high levels of glyphosate. The levels found were higher than what was found to destroy healthy gut bacteria in chickens.

From cradle to grave, glyphosate seems to be part of the American experience. Should the government ban and force the wrongdoers to compensate the masses for numerous diseases? It’s time the people demand action.
