Could Common Herbicide Be Behind Autism Rise?

• Poisons found in Monsanto’s weedkiller Roundup are ubiquitous in foods.

• Could glyphosates be real culprit responsible for myriad health problems?

By James Spounias —

The mainstream media has its talking heads on full attack regarding the prospect that unvaccinated children may transmit measles to infants too young to be vaccinated or others who are immune compromised, such as children with cancer.

The anti-vaccination position is likened to saying the Earth is flat, even though plausible arguments, science and logic against the safety and efficacy of mandatory vaccines abound. Many anti-vaccine parents are rightfully concerned about the role of vaccines in autism, as well as other neurological impairments.

Oh, and let’s not forget the question of whether it is parents or the government that should have the final say on vaccinations.

Are vaccines the real issue, or is a commonly used substance more likely the cause of autism and other health problems?

Aristotle opined, “It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.” The pro-and anti-vaccine camps should heed Aristotle’s maxim and consider another variable: the role of the glyphosates in the rise of autism and other diseases.

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Dr. Stephanie Seneff published a paper that estimates in the year 2025 half of children born may suffer from autism and related neurological ailments because of the widespread and seemingly unstoppable use of the herbicide glyphosate, commonly known as Roundup.

Something is amiss with the rate of autism.

In 1970, one in 10,000 children was diagnosed. In 2014, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimated one in 68 children born suffer from it. Such a spectacular increase can’t be passed off so easily. Or can it?

Monsanto’s Roundup is the world’s best-selling glyphosate weed killer. Roundup Ready is used for genetically-modified (GMO) crops that are bred to resist damage from the product, the goal being to kill the weeds without harming the GMO crop.

It can be confusing at times, but non-GMO crops do also get treated heavily with glyphosate. For instance, glyphosates are used on non-GMO crops such as wheat in a process misnamed as “dessication” in which wheat is treated with glyphosate prior to harvest to hasten the death of the crop.

What this means is that even though wheat is non-GMO, glyphosates are applied to wheat shortly before being sent to manufacturers who then use it to make bread, cereal, pasta and other grain-based foods.

Ironically, as previously noted in AMERICAN FREE PRESS, gluten is dubbed the culprit while glyphosate is ignored by most wheat-bashers.

Dr. Seneff noted (presentation begins at 19:31) how glyphosate attacks gut bacteria, resulting in gastrointestinal ailments at a level virtually unknown a few decades ago. By disrupting the body’s normal healthy gut bacteria, glyphosate enables pathogenic bacteria, such as Clostridiumdifficile, to take hold more easily. Impaired digestion resulting in undigested proteins is linked to leaky gut syndrome and food intolerances.

Also, vitamin D deficiencies are linked to glyphosate, according to Dr. Seneff, because glyphosate disrupts the liver’s ability to activate vitamin D. This explains why severe vitamin D deficiencies are now more commonplace.

Dr. Seneff added that glyphosate inhibits the liver’s ability to properly detoxify chemicals, putting additional strain on the kidneys as well.

As if it couldn’t get worse, Dr. Seneff observed that glyphosate is an endocrine disruptor at low levels, which makes detection difficult. Dr. Seneff expressed the opinion that breast cancer and fetal impairment during development may also be linked to glyphosate use.

Regarding brain health, Dr. Seneff noted how glyphosate enables mercury, aluminum and glutamate to do more harm than they would without glyphosate, making vaccines containing such metals more damaging.

Monsanto scientists have attacked Dr. Seneff’s paper linking glyphosate to autism, claiming it was published in a physics journal and “the observations recorded . . . were incorrect or poorly established.”

Dr. Seneff correlated the use and scope of glyphosates with the incidence of many diseases, noting that while correlation is not causation, the same medical establishment that is turning a blind eye toward glyphosate linked lung cancer to tobacco use by correlation.

The rates of autism, celiac disease, vitamin D deficiencies and other serious diseases correlate in escalation with the use of glyphosates.

Dr. Seneff’s work should pique the interest of Americans who are concerned about the apparent dangers of glyphosates and genetically-modified crops as well as the rise in autism cases and vaccine usage. It could very well be that glyphosates are in fact one of the most dangerous—yet under-explored—chemicals in our food system.

  1. Check GMOs connection to Agent Orange. The chemical used by the U.S Government to defoliate the Vietnam jungle, and which was sprayed on U.S. troops. This chemical is the cause of numerous unheralded deaths of ‘nam vets, and is costing the government millions in disability to these vets. Read the books Agent Orange by Edwin Martini, and Waiting for an Army to Die by Fred A. Wilcox. Then talk to a ‘nam vet suffering from the effects of Agent Orange.
