American citizens are losing confidence in the mainstream media, and as a result they increasingly turn their attention to other news providers. A perfect illustration can be found in the way alternative media venues such as AMERICAN FREE PRESS have approached Obama’s birth certificate issue.
Whereas writers at this publication covered the story since day one, prominent corporate outlets in television, newspaper and talk radio continue to mock and marginalize the notion that our president may not be a natural born citizen.
On March 1, America’s toughest sheriff, Joe Arpaio, held a press conference where he outlined the findings of his Cold Case Posse. Namely, they concluded that the birth certificate presented by Obama’s White House on April 27, 2011 was a computer-generated forgery.
Regrettably, instead of taking this vital constitutional matter seriously, mainstream sources almost completely ignored it. The New York Times and The Washington Post didn’t give a single mention to Arpaio’s conclusions, nor did CBS, ABC or NBC. Even Fox News, who typically champions Arpaio on his stance against illegal aliens, curiously neglected to place the sheriff’s findings in their regular news cycle.
Arpaio complained that these shills possessed “a predetermined desire to discredit me and my office.”
Indeed, the mainstream’s reaction was appalling. On March 7, independent media reporters Floyd and Mary Beth Brown wrote, “Having just attended Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s Cold Case Posse news conference in Phoenix, Arizona, we candidly admit we have never seen a greater example of raw media bias in our 30 years of watching the fourth estate.”
If Wolf Blitzer, Bill O’Reilly or NBC’s Brian Williams had covered this event, viewers would have seen a far different story than what has thus far been spun by corporate propagandists.
The Browns explained, “In less than an hour, Arpaio’s team laid out a compelling case that individuals working under the President of the United States have engaged in criminal forgery. Most interesting, the case isn’t just about Obama’s birth certificate.”
They continued, “The case against Obama was made with simple, clear videos describing the techniques forgers used to falsify important documents released by Obama’s team. It was obvious that law enforcement professionals doing the actual investigation were real pros.”
The Browns concluded, “The investigation by document forensic experts systematically showed how the documents could not be real and are part of a criminal conspiracy to commit fraud.”
If true, impeachment proceedings against the President should immediately begin. Yet, operatives in the controlled press deliberately suppressed Arpaio’s findings, revealing that they hold no regard whatsoever for this nation’s utmost law, the Constitution. Rather, they view this document as little more than a worthless piece of paper.
Even Russia’s news provider Pravda is mocking the U.S. media, calling it “tame.” On March 7, Pravda’s Dianna Cotter wrote on the birth certificate blackout. “The silence of the American press would be unbelievable if it weren’t so blatantly obvious.”
Fortunately, AFP and others in the alternative media still believe our president should be an American-born citizen, and if evidence exists to the contrary, every effort should be made to uncover the facts. After all, should Americans accept that Obama’s birth certificate is legitimate simply because the government says so? Such a stance is foolhardy in light of countless other lies originating from Washington, D.C. Accepting anything less is a betrayal of all that the “truth movement” is supposed to represent.
In this context, it’s not surprising that Americans are turning away from well-trained liars in the corporate media. Not only has AFP demanded transparency on the Obama birth certificate issue, we were also at the forefront of Attorney General Eric Holder’s “Fast and Furious” scandal where thousands of weapons were allowed to “walk” into Mexico, with one of them ultimately being used to kill border agent Brian Terry.
As the mainstream media continually refuses to cover stories that are being exposed by AFP, evidence clearly shows that they’re suffering repercussions. A 2011 Nielsen Media Research report found a significant decline in viewers for network news magazine shows such as 60 Minutes, 48 Hours, 20/20 and Dateline.
More importantly, the Pew Research Center reported, “Since 1980, the three commercial evening newscasts have lost 28.9 million viewers, or 55.5% of the audience they once had.” This 30-year decline is monumental not only in terms of lost revenue at the three major networks, but also on the stranglehold of information they once enjoyed during the era of Walter Cronkite and John Chancellor.
This trend extends further. U.S. homeowners are canceling their cable TV subscriptions at an alarming rate. Instead of settling for compromised sources, Americans are now turning to the Internet, downloaded apps, cell phones, tablets, iPhones, laptops and Twitter for their news. These mobile technology devices don’t limit information to a few powerful decision-makers that determine what they think all of us should know (and not know).
Another stake is being driven through the heart of The New York Times, who lost $40 million in the last quarter of 2011, in addition to an 8% drop in print advertising. Their circulation revenue is now in freefall, as is total revenue.
This nosedive opens the door for publications such as AFP, who are free of corporate overlords and heavy-handed control biases that prevent the truth from being told. As AFP’s masthead reads, we’re not Republican or Democrat, and we’re not in the business of running a protection racket for corrupt interests in Washington, D.C. or on Wall Street.
Mainstream Media a ‘Criminal Monopoly’
During a March 9 interview, radio talk show host Charles Giuliani of the Oracle Broadcasting Radio Network cited some statements made by former CBS anchor Dan Rather. “He said that the mainstream media’s job is to protect the backside of politicians. If somebody doesn’t go along with the program, they get rubber-tired.”
Giuliani explained the meaning of this reference. “That’s when you pour gasoline inside a tire and set it on fire.” He also told of how, in a rare moment of candor, Rather confessed that he couldn’t exempt himself from the above characterization because he’d been doing the same thing during his career. Due to a fear of being axed, Rather couldn’t say anything that upset his masters. As a man who attained fame by covering up the Kennedy assassination, it’s hard for anyone to doubt Rather’s words.
The formula hasn’t changed today. Giuliani used Fox News as an example. “They have something called the Bible, which is their talking points that get mailed out each morning to newscasters telling them what position to take on certain issues. It’s all prefabricated news because they’re reading from a script.”
Taken a step further, Giuliani made a comparison. “TV anchors are no different than President Obama. They both read off teleprompters. Obama has very little power, as do newscasters. Obama especially is a slave. What he says and does has to remain within a narrow parameter. If he transgresses or strays, he’ll wind up like JFK. Obama and those in the media realize that their jobs are on the line.”
When asked if members of the media were being neutered, Giuliani answered, “A few years ago, a book called Into the Buzzsaw was written by several big name people in the mainstream media that had left the industry because they were so fed up. Basically, these individuals were allowed to expose small-time corruption, but if they ever touched the federal government or corporate America, they got thrown into the buzzsaw and their stories were killed.”
As an incentive, Giuliani described the inner workings of these major news organizations. “Reporters and anchors get paid quite well. That keeps them compliant. If they ever do step out of line, they’re fired or blacklisted. Obviously, each of them knows they’ll never earn an income like this at local news affiliates, so there’s a huge reward for them to maintain the status quo.”
Using another comparison, Giuliani told AFP, “The mainstream media is run like the Mafia, but at least the Mafia has a few scruples. It’s a criminal monopoly that pays their minions well, but if you don’t go along, then you’re up against the Godfather.”
Similarly, Giuliani framed it another way. “Imagine the news as a professional wrestling match. You have the left and right that supposedly hate each other, but afterward they meet at a corner bar to have drinks. Their ‘show’ was only for public consumption, for the crowd. If you notice, the left and right only disagree on minor issues. In actuality, they’re all cheerleaders on the same team. None of them ever question government criminality and complicity like 9-11. What they give us is window dressing and illusion. The left and right dance to the same tune.”
In terms of current events, especially the drumbeats for war against Iran and Syria, Giuliani zeroed in on the main culprit. “The media is run by Zionists, or as I call them on my radio show, a cabal of elite Jew pigs. The key word here is Israel. Mainstream media pundits will never talk about them in the same fashion as we do.”
He added, “Iran and Syria are a threat to Israel’s domination of the Middle East. Israel wants them taken out. Our war against Iraq occurred for the same reason. That’s why it was pushed so heavily. Even the Jewish publication Haaretz admitted that AIPAC was a driving force behind the Iraqi war. Their own newspapers admit it, but ours in the U.S. won’t.”
Interestingly, Giuliani next told a fascinating story. “Did you know that when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently met with President Obama in the White House, he presented him with an ancient scroll, or at least a facsimile of, the Book of Esther. Of course, that’s where the Purim story originated. Both the Iraqi war and Libyan invasion occurred during Purim.”
In closing, Giuliani said, “It’s sad, but people forget—or they haven’t been around long enough—to know that every president sells us out to big money interests. Obama promised us hope and change, but it’s still business as usual. He has a pretty smile and talks the talk, but he’s every bit as much a corporate servant as Bush was.”
