N.Y. congresswoman says time to “rein in” dissenting opinions
By John Friend
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), the leading figure among the far-left radical firebrands in the House known as “The Squad,” recently revealed she wants to crush political dissent and free speech under the guise of “reining in the media” and promoting “media literacy.” Ocasio-Cortez has also called for increased funding for programs to “de-radicalize” individuals who oppose or object to the anti-American, far-left ideology and policy proposals radicals such as she adhere to.
Following the protests at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, which the fake news media and political establishment have dishonestly and hysterically characterized as an “insurrection” and attempted coup fomented by President Donald Trump and his allies, Ocasio-Cortez announced during a livestream on her Instagram page with her supporters that a congressional commission was being discussed among her and her colleagues in order to promote “media literacy.”
“We’re going to have to figure out how we rein in our media environment so you can’t just spew disinformation and misinformation,” the New York representative ominously declared. “It’s one thing to have differentiating opinions, but it’s another thing entirely to just say things that are false, so that’s something that we’re looking into.”
Big Tech platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, have already censored and outright deplatformed countless right-leaning and conservative voices, including President Trump, who was booted from virtually every major social media outlet in the days following the pro-Trump rally recently. Top tech giants have been censoring, deplatforming, and shutting down alternative media personalities and outlets for years, primarily dissident rightwing voices, often at the behest of biased anti-American activist groups, such as the Anti-Defamation League and Southern Poverty Law Center, who work hand-in-hand with social media platforms in devising “community guidelines” and other policies aimed at squelching dissent and open debate.
During her livestream, Ocasio-Cortez hysterically stated she thought she was going to die during the Capitol protests and insisted that “white supremacists” were commanded by President Trump to “attack the Capitol.” She went on to state that Republicans “don’t give a damn about the law” and only care about “white supremacy.”
The Republicans “care about preserving the social order and the mythology of whiteness,” she delusionally explained. “A lot of people have drank the poison of white supremacy and that’s what Donald Trump represents. And at this point [if] you haven’t recognized that and you don’t see it, maybe you have a lot of work to do.”
Ocasio-Cortez’s utter disconnect from reality is fueled and reinforced by the fake news media and is shared by the vast majority of Democrats and the leftwing progressive establishment, who are calling for stifling free speech and dissident thought in the name of combating “domestic terrorism” and “extremism,” concepts now associated with Trump supporters and American patriots, particularly in the aftermath of the chaotic Capitol protest.
The progressive New York Democrat has also advocated for using taxpayer funds to “de-radicalize” so-called “white supremacists,” who are equated with Trump voters, populists, and nationalists generally.
“The white supremacist cause is futile, it’s nihilist—it will never be realized,” Ocasio-Cortez explained in another livestream with her supporters. “The path forward for all of us is a multiracial democracy that fights for the economic and civil rights of every American.”
Various congressional committees and subcommittees have held hearings, invited “experts” to testify, and pondered over “white supremacy,” “systemic racism,” and “white privilege,” among other highly weaponized Marxist, anti-American concepts, for years, especially since the election of President Trump. Ocasio-Cortez noted that programs have been developed to “de-radicalize” individuals, and that the funding for these programs should be doubled, tripled, or quadrupled.
“There are people who are radicalized right now,” she stated. “It’s going to take a very long time to de-radicalize these people and a lot of effort. This is a problem that doesn’t go away on Jan. 20.”
Leftist pundits and media personalities have long called for drastic measures to be taken against Trump supporters. Katie Couric, a high profile former mainstream journalist, recently pondered how Donald Trump supporters would be “deprogrammed” after he exits the White House. Others have called for Trump supporters to be fired from their jobs, excluded from polite society, and even sent to re-education camps.
Make no mistake: If radicals like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez get their way, dissident publications and outlets, including this newspaper, could very well be criminalized and put out of business. Big tech, banking institutions, and monopolized online payment processors have already made significant progress in stamping out independent, dissident media—and harmed the financial stability of our paper. In the wake of the Trump presidency and protest at the U.S. Capitol, the anti-American radicals controlling federal government will be working overtime to crush any dissent to their agenda.
