One of the most surprising parts of the $2.3 trillion coronavirus relief bill signed in late December 2020 was a decree giving U.S. intelligence agencies until June 25, 2021 to reveal all their information about Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs). The Office of Naval Intelligence’s Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force and the FBI will be required to provide “a detailed analysis of UFO data and intelligence” and “identify any national security threats posed by UFOs.”
The CIA, meanwhile, has released its “Black Vault” UFO documents online, on a website run by author and podcaster John Greenwald Jr. “Research by The Black Vault will continue to see if there are additional documents still uncovered within the CIA’s holdings,” Greenwald declared. Blasting the agency, Greenwald noted, “The CIA has made it incredibly difficult to use their records in a reasonable manner. In my opinion, this outdated format makes it very difficult for people to see the documents, and use them, for any research purpose.” Most of the documents are heavily redacted, as is the case with most information the government is forced to disclose under the Freedom of Information Act.
The CIA release consists of documents related to UFO sightings over the past 70 years. President Donald Trump signed a bill to begin the process, on Dec. 30, 2020, which gave the agencies 180 days to make all their information on the subject public. This is quite a change from the “official campaign of ridicule and secrecy” under the first director of the CIA, Roscoe Hillenkoetter. Many who have studied UFO sightings and encounters for years, including this author, are understandably skeptical about the motives of government agencies, who diligently covered up the subject for decades, and smeared many of the most high-profile witnesses.
Renowned astrophysicist Eric W. Davis, a veteran of the UFO program at the Pentagon, gave a classified briefing last March to the Defense Department on the topic of retrieving crashed “vehicles not made on this Earth.” Davis told The New York Times that investigation of some material “failed to determine their source” which led him to conclude that, “We couldn’t make it ourselves.” According to Apollo 14 astronaut Edgar Mitchell, “Yes, there have been crashed craft, and bodies recovered.” Back in 1979, Victor Marchetti, former special assistant to the deputy director of the CIA, declared, “We have, indeed, been contacted—perhaps even visited—by extraterrestrial beings, and the U.S. government, in collusion with the other national powers of the Earth, is determined to keep this information from the general public.”
In his book, Forbidden Science 4, Dr. Jacques Vallee revealed that forced “UFO abductions” were conducted by the CIA as psychological warfare experiments. Vallee wrote, “I have secured a document confirming that the CIA simulated UFO abductions in Latin America (Brazil and Argentina) as psychological warfare experiments.” Vallee quoted Air Force Col. Ron Blackburn as stating, “I’m convinced the government is working on UFOs.” When Vallee asked him, “What are the chances some witnesses are being fooled by special effects developed by psychological warfare?” Blackburn replied, “Experiments have been done where you send a microwave beam through someone’s brain; you pick up the transmitted energy pattern. You can influence people this way, even make them hear things. Holograms have been used, too.” Vallee’s work has been outside the box, with his suggestion that there have been government efforts to hoax and manipulate the public into adopting a particular theory (extraterrestrial origin) for UFOs.
In fact, former Air Force special investigations officer Richard Doty admitted that his job was to spread disinformation about the UFO phenomenon, even though he knew it was all too real. Considering all this, the supposed alien crash at Roswell, N.M. in 1947, and the alleged subsequent recovery of alien bodies, should be seen in a new light. Doty infiltrated UFO groups in the same manner many of those in the conspiracy world believe their own groups and even online forums are infiltrated by undercover assets and trolls.
Vallee, along with the late researcher John Keel (best remembered for writing The Mothman Prophecies, which became a motion picture starring Richard Gere), were the foremost skeptics of the extraterrestrial origin theory of UFOs. However, they most decidedly believed that UFOs are a real phenomenon. The question all of us should be asking is, why are the very agencies that suppressed information about UFOs for decades now suddenly deciding to disclose everything? In addition, why is the same media that participated in the ridiculing of witnesses now treating UFOs with a new-found respect?
There were nearly 6,000 UFO sightings in North America in 2020. It is said that only about 10% of those who witness them actually report it. Smeared for decades as “kooks,” and ostracized by their communities, these witnesses must be smiling with satisfaction.
