$10B Down the Tubes: Israel’s ‘Iron Dome’ a Fraud

By Ralph Forbes

The banksters and their politician hirelings are throwing the American middle class over the “fiscal cliff,” as they play phony wrestling acts on the D.C. stage show, but when Israel wants money the Republicans and Democrats give it to them without fail.

In November, Israel started the Eight Day War and barely escaped a major catastrophe. Maddened by hubris, they attacked the Palestinians with impunity. The bully felt safe hiding behind its Iron Dome missile defense system. But when tiny David lobbed a few pebbles back, the bully ran and bawled like a kid after a spanking.

The cost of the eight days of Operation Pillar of Cloud was at least $30 to $40 million to intercept 421 homemade rockets, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). It cost $90,000 per Iron Dome missile to fire at a $200 to $500 Qassam rocket put together from scrap pipe, sugar and fertilizer. In the first four days, the IDF stated that 546 rockets struck Israel, but Iron Dome only intercepted 302 rockets. If the IDF numbers are correct, 55% is far worse than the 90 to 95% kill-rate trumpeted by Fox News, Wolf Blitzer and the Israeli cheering section.

United States taxpayers have spent over $10 billion for Israel’s anti-missile programs since the 1990s, yet the IDF “Goliath” can’t stop half of the “pebbles” lobbed by the tiny Christian and Muslim “Davids” of Gaza.

The IDF estimates there are 200,000—much more accurate and devastating—rockets and missiles pointed at it from Lebanon, Syria and Iran. If the IDF could stop 90% of these missiles—that would mean 20,000 powerful, deadly accurate, precise projectiles would rain down hellfire on a territory comparable to New Jersey—the 5th smallest American state.

In May 2010, President Obama asked for $205 million for Israel’s Iron Dome, and almost immediately, on May 20, 2010, the House approved the funding by a 410–4 vote. The House gave Israel another $680 million, totaling $900 million “invested” in Israel’s Iron Dome since 2011. Congress admits that even though they gave nearly a billion dollars for Iron Dome, the taxpayers and the U.S. government have “no rights to the technology involved,” according to published reports.

Again on June 4, 2012, the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee “robbed” $210 million from the budget to protect the American people from missile attacks—and gave it to Israel for Iron Dome.

All this money went to Israel’s huge military-industrial complex, shutting out American companies. America’s national debt crisis could be solved with the enormous profits the Israeli Ministry of Defense is going to rake in selling Iron Dome to America and to its captive market: The North Atlantic Treaty Organization, most European countries, South Korea, Pakistan, India and anyone else who can borrow money to purchase it. Yossi Druker, head of Rafael Corporation’s Air-to-Air Directorate, bragged that the deal would bring his corporation several hundred million dollars.
