• Baby body parts and buying influence at America’s largest abortion provider.
By Ronald L. Ray —
Over the past several months, the Center for Medical Progress (CMP) has released a number of video recordings of its undercover investigation of Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), the largest provider of abortions in the United States. This major effort has exposed yet another seamy underside to the business of death before birth: harvesting and selling the body parts of the children PPFA kills.
This newspaper has reported on this story before, but now PPFA is striking back against the investigative reporters with expensive lawsuits. On January 25, a Harris County, Texas grand jury in Houston indicted not the ghouls but the courageous duo exposing them: David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt.
Since 1973, approximately 58 million unborn Americans have been killed in their mothers’ wombs—more human beings than lived in the United States in 1880. This is equivalent to the entire present population of Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, North and South Dakota, Iowa, Arkansas, Minnesota, and Oregon combined. Abortion is an ongoing genocide of nearly unimaginable proportions.
In this environment, Daleiden and Merritt spent 30 months investigating a deliberately concealed facet of the abortion industry: after-market sales of tissues and organs from aborted babies. It is strictly prohibited by federal and many state laws but widely practiced and monetarily highly profitable. Those willing to murder defenseless children do not scruple at legal prohibitions.
Sale of aborted baby body parts involves huge customers in the cosmetic and food industries. The investigative reporters, however, focused on the “medical” side of the resale industry, which craves the babies’ remains for “research” purposes. CMP discovered one big-money customer of Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast in Houston was the University of Texas Medical Branch, even obtaining an invoice as proof.
In hidden-camera interviews with numerous PPFA executives and other abortion industry representatives from around the country, Daleiden and Merritt posed as representatives of BioMax, a corporate entity established to give plausibility to their cover story of seeking organs from aborted children for medical research. This shell entity’s fictitious activities were patterned after real-life companies like StemExpress, LLC, which conducted a ghoulish, high-volume business purchasing aborted baby parts from PPFA in California. StemExpress markets heavily to multiple PPFA affiliates. StemExpress has since severed ties with PPFA.
Two of the PPFA officials CMP encountered were Melissa Farrell, director of research at Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast in Houston, and that abortuary’s CEO, Melaney Linton. Both made gruesome admissions to Daleiden and Merritt that appear to prove clearly the PPFA affiliate’s illegal involvement in trafficking human body parts, while explaining how they cover up the huge profit they make from the sales.
The videos caused instant outrage across the nation, and investigations of PPFA were begun by Congress and the Texas governor and lieutenant governor. The allegedly pro-life Harris Co., Texas district attorney Devon Anderson, convened a 12-person grand jury to look into PPFA Gulf Coast’s activities. But, incredibly, the grand jury handed out
an indictment not against the perpetrators of such horrific evil but against the investigative reporters who exposed PPFA’s nefarious activities. Following significant public outrage, Anderson issued a testy video statement defending the grand jury’s actions.

According to the website “LifeSiteNews.com,” Daleiden and Merritt were each accused of a “second-degree felony charge of ‘tampering with a governmental record,’ and a misdemeanor charge for violating the state’s ‘prohibition of the purchase and sale of human organs.’” A conviction could result in a 20-year prison sentence.
“LifeSiteNews.com” further reported: “The notion that Daleiden and Merritt . . . intended to purchase human organs but that the local Planned Parenthood affiliate did not intend to sell them turns logic on its head,” according to Peter Breen of the Thomas More Society, a not-for-profit law firm that represents the accused. Perhaps demonstrating the weakness of the state’s case, prosecutors offered to reduce felony charges against Merritt to a misdemeanor on her first appearance in court.
Over 100,000 people so far have petitioned that charges against the whistleblowers be dropped entirely. But even a fair trial may be a problem for the accused, because of the massive amounts of money abortionists expend to keep public officials supporting the extermination of the unborn. Finding an objective jury presents similar difficulties in liberal Houston.
PPFA receives over a half-billion dollars annually in taxpayer funding, so it has a huge interest in maintaining a strong influence over politicians. Abortionists are known for their electoral campaign largesse toward sympathetic lawmakers, who then help keep open the sleazy murder mills, which typically do not maintain even the standards of outpatient surgical facilities.
Showing how desperate PPFA is to keep killing the unborn, the Planned Parenthood Action Fund (PPAF) endorsed a presidential candidate for the first time: Hillary Clinton. It plans to expend $20 million supporting the campaign of a woman who reportedly once told a pro-lifer, “God wants me to kill babies!”
How PPAF can do so and not risk its tax-exempt status as an allegedly “nonpartisan advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America” is unknown. But it is a good question readers should ask the Internal Revenue Service and their representatives in Washington.
