The Iowa Caucus is the first major contest in each presidential election cycle. This year, it was held on February 1.
In 2012, the Iowa State GOP headquarters announced the wrong winner on the night of the Iowa Caucus. Mitt Romney, the pre-selected darling of the GOP establishment, took the bows before the worldwide cameras as the “winner” of the 2012 Iowa Caucus, with all the financial and polling momentum that entailed.
But then, a few days later, the Iowa GOP was forced to recant and declare Rick Santorum the winner based on the testimony of a lone Iowa Caucus attendee, Edward True, and the efforts of Watch The Vote USA, which swung into action to bring True’s affidavit to the attention of the news media, and defeat the Iowa GOP’s attempts to discredit him. Local Des Moines TV stations picked up the story, as did Erin Burnett who was in her first weeks at CNN as the host of “OutFront.”
The entire story is told at the new website, OpenLettertoDonaldTrump.com, complete with two videos from CNN’s coverage of the story.
The Iowa GOP has a long history of warping the Iowa Caucus results and the Iowa Straw Polls in years when populist candidates are threatening to defeat the Old Guard’s pre-selected choice. There is hardly a category of crime that could be worse than warping the first major showdown in the contest for who is to become the next president of the United States or falsifying any election.
In sharp contrast to the computerized primaries that follow, the Iowa Caucus is the fairest, most transparent process in the presidential year. The local Iowans meet in about 1750 neighborhood caucuses. Voting takes place on paper ballots, and then the paper ballots are counted in front of everyone. This is the way all elections were once conducted, and should be conducted again. The problem is not with the local Iowans who, of course, conduct honest neighborhood caucuses. The problem is with the Iowa state GOP headquarters, which alters the numbers they receive from around the state when the “wrong” candidate is winning.
In 1996, the Iowa state GOP was caught red-handed stealing 13% of presidential candidate Pat Buchanan’s vote in Dubuque County, Iowa. This theft amounted to about 130 votes of the nearly 1,000 Buchanan garnered in that county. Dubuque County is one of the 99 counties in Iowa. Our Watch The Vote USA team was monitoring in Dubuque County that night. No one was watching in the other 98 counties.
Persistent efforts to get the Iowa GOP to correct the falsification of Buchanan’s totals in Dubuque County were met with implacable stonewalling. The November 1996 edition of Chronicles Magazine carried this full story in the article, “A House without Doors,” available free online. That article documents the involvement of ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, and AP wire in the votefraud perpetrated against Buchanan that year.
In January 2012, The Des Moines Register finally acknowledged that perhaps Buchanan, not Dole, had been the winner of the Iowa Caucus in 1996.
This brings us to the votescam buzzsaw that Donald Trump, and perhaps a few other GOP candidates, faced in the Iowa Caucus.
The mechanism for falsifying the vote in the Iowa Caucus is simply switching the numbers at the state level. Both the fraud against Buchanan in 1996 and the falsification of the winner in 2012 was caught by comparing eyewitness reports at the local level against what the Iowa state GOP published a little later on caucus night.
On February 1, the night of the 2016 Iowa Caucus, the Trump campaign and all the other campaigns could have prevented vote falsification at the Iowa state GOP HQ level by instructing their supporters to take a cell-phone picture of the official tally at their neighborhood caucuses, and then emailing that picture to Watch the Vote USA at WatchTheVote2016@gmail.com.
In the future, in other caucuses, WatchTheVoteUSA.com will post the cell phone pictures of the official tally sheets, and it will be impossible for the GOP headquarters or anyone else to falsify the real vote, either on purpose or by accident. That means we’ll get the real winner each night following the caucuses.
Things will get much worse in New Hampshire and beyond. New Hampshire now counts 80% of the ballots in secret on easily-rigged software programs provided by only a handful of mega-vendors, such as Diebold, Hart Civic, and ES&S. Incredibly, counties in New Hampshire and every other state that conducts computerized “elections” sign contracts agreeing not to inspect in any way the privately-owned software programs that instruct the computers what to do on election night.
In South Carolina, 100% of the votes are counted on touch-screen computers, and there are no paper ballots at all. And all the primaries on Super Tuesday are counted on easily-rigged computer programs provided to each of the counties by one of about four mega-vendors, with no checks and balances on election night. The “results” are announced without any citizen, any candidate, or any local press person having seen any ballots.
Both New Hampshire and South Carolina violate their own state laws, which make it illegal to count any votes in secret. In the November election, all 50 states “count” our votes on secret computer programs, which is forbidden by the U.S. Constitution, and three still-standing Supreme Court decisions.
The insurmountable problems with computer-counted elections were pinpointed by Dr. David Dill of Stanford University:
“Why am I always being asked to prove these systems aren’t secure? The burden of proof ought to be on the vendor. You ask about the hardware. ‘Secret.’ The software? ‘Secret.’ What’s the cryptography? ‘Can’t tell you because that’ll compromise the secrecy of the machines.’… Federal testing procedures? ‘Secret’! Results of the tests? ‘Secret’! Basically we are required to have blind faith.” said Dr. David L. Dill, Professor, computer science, Stanford University, as cited by Ronnie Dugger in his article, “How They Could Steal the Election This Time,” which appeared in the Aug. 16, 2004 edition of The Nation magazine.
In New Hampshire, the Trump campaign, and the others, must send eyewitnesses to the 120 or so New Hampshire polling places that count the ballots in public view, right after the polls close. It is impossible that the results in the 120 hand-counted precincts in New Hampshire would differ significantly from the 260 or so precincts whose ballots are “counted” behind police guard, on secret computer programs.
In South Carolina and beyond, there is nothing to watch. All the votes are “counted,” in one way or another, away from the public sight, behind police guard, on secret computer programs. The Trump campaign, joined by perhaps the Rand Paul campaign, the Ben Carson campaign, and perhaps others, must file suit against the 50 secretaries of state for conducting these illegal, unconstitutional “elections” in all states that conduct presidential primaries, and in all 50 states for the November election.
One statement on this subject from Trump in a public forum, followed by the above specified actions, would finally blow the lid off the greatest political scandal of the last 40 years. The late Collier brothers described this unmanageable reality in the title of their 1992 book, Votescam: The Stealing of America. (Other significant resources are Bev Harris’s book, Black Box Voting, the HBO documentary, “Hacking Democracy,” and the website votefraud.org.)
And such a public stand by Trump would probably go a long way to ensuring an honest presidential election in 2016.
Only one national newspaper, AMERICAN FREE PRESS (and its predecessor, The Spotlight), has covered the votescam issue consistently over the last 4 decades since computerized “elections” were imposed upon the United States.
How our nation’s destiny is being warped by the Votescam Syndicate is explained in depth at OpenLetterToDonaldTrump.com.
Remember the words of communist dictator Joseph Stalin: “The people who cast the votes decide nothing. The people who count the votes decide everything.”
