Medical Research Scam Exposed

• Prestigious medical journal: “It’s no longer possible to believe clinical research.”

• Editor of The Lancet: “Half of all scientific literature may simply be untrue.”

By James Spounias —

Is there a Berlin Wall moment coming for establishment medicine? It’s possible that the words of reputed scientists who openly buck the system may well pave the way for what could be a major crumbling of faith in the medical-industrial complex.

Dr. Marcia Angell, a physician and the first woman to serve as editor-in-chief of The New England Journal of Medicine  (NEJM), the oldest continuously published medical journal in the United States, said: “It is simply no longer possible to believe much of the clinical research that is published, or to rely on the judgment of trusted physicians or authoritative medical guidelines. I take no pleasure in this conclusion, which I reached slowly and reluctantly over my two decades as an editor of the New England Journal of Medicine.”

Dr. Richard Charles Horton, the current editor-in-chief of The Lancet, considered to be one of the most well-respected peer-reviewed medical journals in the world, wrote: “The case against science is straightforward—much of the scientific literature, perhaps half, may simply be untrue. Afflicted by studies with small sample sizes, tiny effects, invalid exploratory analyses and flagrant conflicts of interest, together with an obsession for pursuing fashionable trends of dubious importance, science has taken a turn towards darkness.”

Dr. John P. A. Ioannidis, professor at Stanford University, in a widely read study, “Why Most Published Research Findings Are False,” stated: “There is increasing concern that most current published research findings are false.”

Dr. David Lewis, member of the graduate faculty of the University of Georgia, noted that “Fiona Godlee, editor-in-chief of The BMJ [formerly British Medical Journal], testified before Parliament that peer-reviewed scientific literature has become the marketing arm of the pharmaceutical industry.”

It’s so bad that on July 29, Representative William J. “Bill” Posey (R-Fla.) called for a congressional investigation in light of evidence that suggested a leading scientist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) admitted the CDC destroyed documents that suggest a connection between the infamous measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine and autism in young black children. Posey’s call for an investigation fell on deaf ears, however.

But when the medical-industrial complex beckons Congress, House and Senate members line up to oblige. The 21st Century Cures Act is a fitting example, having passed the House by a wide vote of 344 to 77.

Establishment news outlets such as The Atlantic gushed over the Cures Act on the basis it provides “a bundle of money” for research that the regular “market” ignores, such as “promoting therapies like biomarkers to enhance personalized drug treatments, targeted at individuals and not just broadly at diseases.”

The issue of personalized drug treatments raises a question because privacy advocates, such as those who object to the random extraction of blood during DUI [driving under the influence] checkpoints, openly question what the government is doing with our DNA [Deoxyribonucleic acid]. Is it paranoid to assume that in the wrong hands, a targeted “disease” could be administered, just as easily as the promised specific cure?

Even former Food and Drug Administration Commissioner David Aaron Kessler, who served under Presidents George Walker Bush and William Jefferson “Bill” Clinton opposed the Cures Act because he feared it may shortcut drug approval requirements. Kessler is best known among alternative health advocates for spearheading militarist raids on alternative health physicians, such as the May 6, 1992 raid at Dr. Jonathan Wright’s medical practice.

Though alternative health advocates are not friends of nanny-state government, the seemingly “market-friendly” language in the Cures Act that purports to lessen regulations does not include true freedom, but rather government funding of private pharmaceutical interests and special exemptions. Clearly, people will still be traveling to Mexico or other foreign countries to employ so-called “alternative” treatments, unavailable in the U.S., while Big Pharma has unprofitable treatments funded by taxpayers and receives exemptions limiting liability.

The Cures Act provided $9 billion for an entity in which revolving-door executives and government officials will not rely on “case-controlled clinical trials, (but rather) the new approval process for drugs and vaccines will incorporate anecdotal evidence from patients, parents, advocacy organizations, research sponsors and unnamed ‘others,’ ” wrote Dr. David Lewis recently in a blistering attack on the legislation.

In the controversial area of vaccines, it’s particularly outrageous. A survey of 1,756 U.S. parents concluded that a whopping 82% believe vaccinations are beneficial for public health but only 32% place trust in CDC vaccine “educational” information.

Lewis reported: “To bolster compliance with CDC vaccine policies, the White House is funding faith-based organizations to promote vaccination. [Former] Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius noted that religious groups play an important role in keeping communities healthy. It’s shameful that corporate influence has eroded public confidence to the point that religious organizations are being paid to vouch for CDC policies.”

When medical establishment journal editors belch about Big Pharma corrupting “science” it could be a sign that medical tyranny is on its last legs. On the other hand, it could mean that the corporatists are so infested into our government that telling the “truth” doesn’t matter one whit. Either way, these are interesting times.
