Dr. Peter Vincent Pry, a world-renowned WMD expert, and the Executive Director of the Task Force on National and Homeland Security, who has educated AMERICAN FREE PRESS readers on the threats of Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP), both the natural and man-made versions, delivers some good news in this interview (24:39).

On Wednesday, September 12, at 10:00 am, in the Cannon House Office Building, Room 311, there will be a hearing on EMP threats before the House Committee on Homeland Security’s Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Infrastructure Protection, and Security Technologies.

The hearing is titled The EMP Threat: Examining the Consequences, and will be webcast live.

Dr. Pry feels that this is a potentially historic hearing, as it will raise consciousness of EMP in order to pass the SHIELD Act H.R.668, the Secure High-voltage Infrastructure for Electricity from Lethal Damage Act, which would amend the Federal Power Act to protect the bulk-power system and electric infrastructure critical to the defense and well-being of the United States against natural and man-made EMP threats and vulnerabilities.

Dr. Pry encourages readers and listeners to contact, before the 9/12/2012 10:00 am hearing, Congressman Fred Upton (R-Mich.), the Chairman of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, to encourage him to pass the SHIELD Act, which has been languishing since February 10, 2011. It’s important to note that the Energy and Commerce Committee has one of the broadest jurisdictions of any congressional committee, with principal responsibility over matters relating to healthcare, energy, the environment, consumer safety, telecommunications, commerce, manufacturing, and trade.

Chairman Upton can be reached at 202-225-3761.
