Following the Nov. 8 election, former Secret Service agent Gary Byrne sat down with AFP once again to discuss, among other things, his bestselling book about life in the White House with the Clintons and how happy he is to have played a significant part in the defeat of Hillary Clinton. Gary J. Byrne is proof positive why America is still the greatest country in the world. Where else could a guy who was a law enforcement officer his whole life—a cop—become a New York Times best-selling author?
AMERICAN FREE PRESS readers were introduced to Byrne and his book, Crisis of Character: A White House Secret Service Officer Discloses His Firsthand Experience with Hillary, Bill, and How They Operate, in Issue 33&34, where he made no secret of the fact that he “wanted the American people to know who the real Hillary and Bill Clinton are before they have to make this decision for this election.”
Well, with the election over and the dust settled, the surprise star author sat down with AFP to catch up on life in Clinton-free America.
There’s no doubt that Byrne’s first book had an impact on how many people voted—440,000 had been sold as of last month—although to what degree is almost impossible to discern at this point.

“I do realize that my book had some effect,” Byrne told AFP in his typical self-deprecating style, “but the real credit goes to Mr. Trump and his family. They did an incredible job. And they did it in a way that normal politicians can’t do it. He stepped up and did the right thing for us.”

Although Byrne is glad Trump won, that’s not what motivated him to put pen to paper.
“When I first started writing the book, my goal wasn’t to get anybody elected,” he said. “It was really to defeat her—to get the truth out and stop Hillary Clinton. From that perspective, I at least helped.”
Byrne, whose book remains almost entirely shunned by the mainstream media, got a chuckle out of the biased coverage on election night.
“When I watched the election the other night, it was comical watching the mainstream media,” he said. “They just couldn’t bring themselves to admit it. I thought George Stephanopoulos was gonna have a seizure. He just couldn’t say that she lost.”
He added: “I kept flipping back from Fox to CNN or MSNBC and they held him at 255 [electoral votes] and Mrs. Clinton’s numbers were still at 215, and they just couldn’t bring themselves to give him the states that Fox had said he had won like an hour before. At that point, that’s when I realized that they’re purposely holding this up, hoping for miracle. She lost, Mr. Trump won, and unless I wake up tomorrow and find out there’s an ice cream machine in the house, it just couldn’t get any better.”
AFP asked how he feels now that Mrs. Clinton was defeated.
“I feel very content,” he said. “I vote because I feel it’s a responsibility and usually vote Republican because I don’t want anybody screwing with my Second Amendment rights. I don’t believe it’s possible to be free if you’re not free to defend yourself with a firearm. If we lose that right, how are we really free? We can’t really protect ourselves.
“And I think that’s one of the most important things about living here. I knew in my heart of hearts based on my eight years that I protected [the Clintons], that was one thing she was always nuts about, flipping the Second Amendment.”
In spite of the mainstream media’s quarantine, the book was a smashing success on The New York Times Bestseller list “It was number one for five weeks and it stayed on the list for 11 weeks,” Byrne explained.
Byrne, however, is still not entirely comfortable with his status as a best-selling author.
“One day the publisher called me, and he was thanking me, and I laughed. He asked why, and I said, ‘I can’t believe you’re the owner of this company, you run it, and you’re calling me. Am I missing something? Is it that big of a deal?’ He said, ‘Yeah, you just don’t realize it.’ So I’m starting to get a grip on everything. There’s tens of thousands of great writers in this country whose books are sitting in desk drawers. I just got lucky, and believe me, I’m very grateful for it.”
AFP asked how he felt now that Trump will be in the White House soon.
“I am very happy about it,” he said. “I’m grateful and I’m so hopeful now. I didn’t even realize how concerned I was about what would happen if she got in. And I don’t mean about me; I mean about the country. I think we dodged an incredible disaster.”
