Although June was undoubtedly not a good month for Americans proud of the heritage, culture and traditions ensconced in this country, founded and made successful by white northern Europeans over four centuries ago, the assault on the Confederate battle flag and the activist Supreme Court decisions sanctioning Obamacare and gay marriage are only encouraging many patriots across the country to take a stand.

When the self-proclaimed expert on “hate,” manifested through their “hate ratings,” the Montgomery, Alabama-based Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), reared its ugly head to attack a 19-year member of law enforcement and married father of three young children, simply for his membership in a Southern heritage organization, the organization struck back.

The police officer’s involvement with the League of the South (LS) was old news, but the opportunistic, hateful SPLC grabbed a chance to hurt a patriotic American by riding the wave of political correctness set off by the alleged South Carolina church shooting of June 17, 2015, albeit their assault was launched hours prior to the alleged massacre, perhaps paving the way for what has unfolded since then.

On Friday, 19 June, Lt. Josh Doggrell was fired from the Anniston, Alabama police department where he had served honorably for nine years. Prior to that, he served on the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department from 1997 to 2006.

To get a better understanding of this matter, AMERICAN FREE PRESS reached out to Dr. Michael Hill, the founder and president of LS and a retired university professor of history and the author of two books on Celtic warfare. In 1994, Dr. Hill met with 42 people from various walks of life, spending three days in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to form what is now the League.

Dave Gahary sat down with Dr. Hill to discuss the League and Josh in this informative interview (23:42).

Attack on Southern Heritage May Have Been Preplanned

On Friday, 19 June, Lieutenant Josh Doggrell was fired from the Anniston, Alabama police department where he had served honorably for nine years.

“From day one we’ve been a southern nationalist organization,” Dr. Hill began, “meaning that we’re working for a free and independent South that has a right of secession, freedom from Washington, D.C., freedom to rule ourselves, and that’s been our goal for 21 years.”

Dr. Hill explained the pressure that’s been put on members.

“We’ve had over the past 21 years a number of people that have lost their jobs because of their affiliation with the League,” he said. “Most of them have been given the opportunity to denounce the League and quit so they could keep their jobs.”

“Most of us are Christians,” he continued, “and that kind of puts us in the crosshairs of the cultural Marxists who are kind of running the show today.”

Curiously, the SPLC’s Internet article attacking Doggrell’s ties to LS, which they consider a “Neo-Confederate hate group,” was released on June 17, 2015, at 11:54 a.m., at least six hours prior to Dylann Storm Roof allegedly shooting nine people at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina.

AFP asked Dr. Hill what he thought of that coincidence.

“I am to the point,” he said, “where I don’t believe a damn thing that the U.S. government tells me.”

Dr. Hill explained some other facts of Doggrell’s case that don’t add up.

“The Anniston Police Department knew about [his membership in the League] when he interviewed for the job in 2006,” he explained. “He reiterated it to the chief in 2009, and they said they had no problem with it.”

After the SPLC’s hit piece appeared on the Internet, Doggrell was given the chance to renounce his membership in LS to keep his job.

“Josh is a good Christian young man,” Dr. Hill explained. “So when he was given the option of throwing us under the bus to keep his job and his pension, he told them in no uncertain terms that he was sticking with the League.”

Two days later, “Josh was summarily fired,” at a press conference for obvious effect.

“Because the SPLC, the ADL, the NAACP and all these left-wing cultural Marxist groups started tightening the clamps and screws, applying pressure,” explained Dr. Hill, “the City of Anniston caved in. And as a result, there will be a lawsuit.”

“Josh has been talking to a very aggressive labor lawyer in Birmingham,” Dr. Hill said, “supposedly one of the best labor lawyers in the South.”

The legal battle will certainly be costly and every penny from supporters can help secure victory.

Dr. Hill explained the disadvantages facing white people, especially Southerners, in America today.

“We have a double standard at work out there,” he said. “The Black Panther Party can have public demonstrations and press conferences and talk about slitting white people’s throats and nothing ever happens to them. But if we did stuff like that, we’d be hauled off and thrown in the gulag before the day was over.”

Dr. Hill explained the significance of fighting for Doggrell’s rights.

“If we don’t fight we lose, and if we fight we’re not guaranteed to win, but if we don’t fight we know what the outcome’s gonna be.”

  1. No States need to secede from the union to be free of the federal government. The union is strong when the States support each other and stop federal encroachment into State affairs and People contrary to the constitution between these States and the federal government. The issue is really simple…the federal government has stolen our rights and forced all State citizens into their corporate, federal jurisdiction through the 14th Amendment fraud. We all need to remember who we are and that the created federal government cannot be greater than the People who created it. We stop the government by NOT submitting to unlawful jurisdiction and force and QUIT being a federal citizen. The federal government needs to stay in its sandbox in D.C., and get the blazes out of the States in ANYTHING that is NOT clearly defined in the constitution which binds it down. If that takes another civil war, so be it!
  2. Not only that, but Officer Doggrell had been very upfront about his affiliation therewith and in the past had been told that there was no problem by his superiors.

As AFP’s Dave Gahary has already pointed out, it’s a bit curious to boot that the SPLC called in their hate-laden complaint about the public servant mere hours before the tragic shooting occurred.

    Coincidence?

  3. The police dep’t offered no other reason than his involvement with LS to fire him?
