STOP THE KILLING IN PALESTINE
Former Prime Minister, Nobel Laureate Say Israel Should Be Charged With War Crimes
By Michael Collins Piper
Longtime former Malaysian Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir Mohamad has called for the United Nations to set up an international war crimes tribunal against the government of Israel for what he has referred to as Israel’s “primitive killing” of Palestinians. He has also urged the people of Muslim nations worldwide to launch a boycott of American goods.
Dr. Mahathir charged that because the United States continues to support Israel, even in the face of the holocaust in Gaza, the United States is “much more guilty than even the Israelis.”
Mahathir said that “the backing by the U.S. gives [Israel power] to do all these things which I think ordinary Americans would not like to see them do. Israelis believe if they go to war there is this big brother that is going to come with the weapons, with the money, so they don’t care what the world thinks.”
As the chairman of the Malaysia-based Kuala Lumpur Foundation to Criminalize War (see the website at criminalisewar.com), Dr. Mahathir has been an outspoken critic of Israel and of the United States and Britain for continuing to support Israel. (See Dr.Mahathir’s other site at perdana4peace.org.)
Likewise, Ireland’s highly regarded Nobel Peace Prize laureate Mairead Maguire has added her voice to the call for Israel being held to account at an international criminal tribunal, asserting that Israel’s actions in Gaza violate the Geneva Convention and constitute “a war crime and crime against humanity.”
